Once a year the normally peaceful San Diego Mission Bay reverberates to the crashing crescendo of the powerful engines of unlimited hydroplane racing boats. The unlimited hydroplanes are a part of the summertime Thunderboat Regatta and attain speeds of up to 250 miles per hour. The Regatta can be viewed from the banks of Mission Bay.
